Theatre Puget Sound is the umbrella organization serving the theater community in the Puget Sound area. Postings include notices of discounted shows, auditions, workshops, jobs, searches, and events. Twice a year, TPS coordinates general auditions for actors. Casting directors, agents, theater directors and now film directors are invited to audit. Affordable mortgages and chat opportunities with other actors are also available. TPS also offers very inexpensive rehearsal space and administers the rental of two theaters in Seattle Center. Located at 1525 10th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122, Freehold is one of two conservatories for actors, playwrights, directors and other theater professionals. It offers a comprehensive curriculum, year 'round taught by many of the area’s finest professionals.
Located at 1100 E. Pike St. Seattle, WA 98122, Northwest Actors Studio is the second of Seattle’s reputable conservatories for actors, writers, directors, and producers. It, too, offers year 'round instructional programs with fine local professional artists.
Other acting educational opportunities
Seattle has a number of schools with fine drama programs. The University of Washington’s program is ranked amongst the top in the nation. Cornish College has a fine national reputation as an arts university. Many of the community colleges also have drama programs. Other programs and workshops may be found through Theatre Puget Sound.
Go Where the Filmmakers Are
A website of film-related programs offered by Warren Etheredge, the area’s most recognizable film cognoscenti. Registrants at the website may request FREE tickets to first-run movies posted there regularly. They are also invited to monthly screenings of Warren’s Distinguishing Features at the Seattle Art Museum and to his Shooting Scripts screenplay readings at On the Boards. And there are always other interesting film-related events cropping up in his programming. Filmmakers are regulars at his events. Annual registration: $15.00.

The Seattle chapter of the Independent Feature Project provides services to independent filmmakers. It conducts the Spotlight Award competition, a valuable package of goods and services to the winning short film script, and hosts mixers and programs for its members. Membership fee.

The Seattle chapter of the well-known national organization for women in all walks of the production business, WIF/Seattle offers networking opportunities for women and supports women filmmakers and their work. It offers an annual scholarship and produces the Nell Shipman Awards. Membership fee.

Seattle is the home of many film festivals, all of which are attended by filmmakers and many of which have workshops or panels. The grand daddy is the Seattle International Film Festival, but others include the Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, the Jewish Film Festival, the Northwest Asian American Film Festival, 1 Reel Short Film Festival and so many more.
