Los Angeles (November 20, 2009) – Pamm Fair, who joined the Screen Actors Guild staff in 2002 and served as a deputy national executive director, is resigning from the organization effective December 31, 2009. No immediate replacement will be named to her position and Fair remains on staff through the end of the year to transition responsibilities. 

Screen Actors Guild National President Ken Howard said, “On behalf of the Guild, I want to thank Pamm for her contributions and service to SAG members and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

(November 11, 2009) Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay tribute to five actors who have received one of the highest honors any film performer can achieve: the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.  TCM’s four-film presentation will take place in primetime Friday, Jan. 22, the night before sister networks TNT and TBS present a live simulcast of the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®.

Los Angeles (November 9, 2009) - The AFL-CIO elected Screen Actors Guild National President Ken Howard to its Executive Council today during its scheduled meeting in Washington D.C. Howard, whose Executive Council term runs until the summer of 2013, fills a seat vacated by former Guild National President Alan Rosenberg, who had served on the Federation’s Council for three years before stepping down. Howard will concentrate on issues that affect the Guild, the Associated Actors and Artistes of America, professional employees and the entertainment and media industries.

Los Angeles (November 2, 2009) — Screen Actors Guild Women’s Committee and Events of the Heart will present an inspired performance of “A Heart United” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles. SAG members Garcelle Beauvais, Stephen Collins, Valerie Cruz, Dulé Hill, Sharon Lawrence, Lupe Ontiveros, Brenda Strong, JoBeth Williams and others are scheduled to participate in this collaborative staged reading, directed by Christine La Monte, to raise awareness and empower women to take charge of their heart health.

Study Shows Television Audiences Would Grow with More English-Language Programming Dubbed by Spanish-Speaking Actors

Los Angeles (October 28, 2009) - More Hispanics would watch English-language programming dubbed into Spanish if more were available and easier to find, according to the 2009 Hispanic Consumer Survey on SAP commissioned by Screen Actors Guild, which reveals the viewing habits of Spanish-speaking audiences in the United States and the use of Secondary Audio Programming (SAP).

Los Angeles - The Hollywood Disabilities Forum, held on October 24 at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, served as a high-visibility reminder that people with disabilities are a significant part of our society – as much as 20 percent of the U.S. population by some estimates – yet people with disabilities remain “virtually invisible” in media portrayals on screen and stage.

Screen Actors Guild and Other Unions to Host “Hollywood Disabilites Forum” on Saturday to Explore Opportunities and Challenges of People with Disabilities in Entertainment
